Out of Bounds: Supreme Court Sets the Limits of U.S. Trademark Law

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Abitron Austria GmbH v. Hetronic International, Inc. that the Lanham Act does not cover trademark infringement that occurs mainly outside the United States. This decision may make it more difficult for U.S. trademark actions to stop counterfeit goods from foreign sources.
