Senators aim to protect small businesses from foreign IP theft with new bill

Senators are introducing the IDEA Act to protect small businesses from foreign intellectual property (IP) theft. The bill aims to reauthorize a program called PRO-IP that supports state and local law enforcement efforts to prevent, investigate, and prosecute IP theft crimes. The focus will be on countries like China and Mexico, where IP theft against U.S. small businesses is prevalent. The cost of IP theft to the U.S. economy is estimated to be between $225 billion and $600 billion annually.
