Industry body IP Europe responded to the European Commission's proposed regulation on standard-essential patents (SEPs). IP Europe highlighted key issues in a blog post and published a 28-page consultation response. The response criticizes the unbalanced and unworkable nature of the proposal, calling for its withdrawal or overhaul. IP Europe agrees with the proposal's aim of bringing down SEP license fees but raises concerns about hold-out and overleveraging of SEPs in Germany. Additionally, IP Europe opposes the excessive delegation of power to the Commission and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).
