UK IPO consultation on trademark and design services

The UK government has launched a second consultation to improve digital services provided by the Intellectual Property Office. The consultation includes proposals to change or abolish series marks, encourage more mediation within IPO tribunal proceedings, introduce an online document inspection service, align trade marks and designs legislation with patents legislation, limit public disclosure of inventors' addresses, and explore extended payment periods for Supplementary Protection Certificates fees. The consultation is part of the UK IPO's efforts to develop new digital services for trade marks, designs, and tribunals by 2025.
